Bethany Community Services' New Affordable Senior Residence Opens Its Doors

September 20, 2024

Yesterday, we joined Bethany Community Services and Davis Square Architects to celebrate the completion of new 48 unit affordable senior residence, Merrimack Corner. The project marks the first new affordable housing project built in Haverhill, MA since 1979.

The reception began with opening remarks by Jered Stewart, President & CEO of Bethany Communities, who thanked the partners, administrative staff, and construction team that made the project possible.

“When we built this building, our goal here was not just to create more housing, but to expand upon that community that we created,” Stewart explained, while noting the common areas, administrative offices, wellness spaces, and amenities of the building. “We’ve always wanted to do more for people, and the value that we were able to add in the amenities has been a great thing, for the residents and our people.”

The new building is connected to the existing residence via a skywalk, which allows all residents to take advantage of the expanded services. In addition to modern housing units, the building includes a large community space, fitness room, wellness center, and office spaces.
