Vanderbilt Mansion
The Vanderbilt Mansion, a National Historic Site, is one of the region’s oldest Hudson River estates. For nearly two centuries, the property had been home to the socially prominent.
The foundation walls that had shown signs of failure related to age and moisture infiltration have been protected and preserved. The project scope includes the removal and repair of historically significant windows to prevent further interior deterioration. In completing these repairs, the public has regained access to several rooms which have been off limits for many years. In addition, the entire exterior masonry limestone structure has been washed and cleaned to match its original stature. Structural masonry elements have been removed, repaired, structurally upgraded and reinstalled. Through careful planning and preparation, this exterior envelope rehabilitation project has reinvigorated this historically significant estate.
